February is the month of Love!
I’m sure you’ve heard this before:
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words build and topple empires.
Oh, right, Ok, I know that’s not the way the saying usually goes, but I’m using a dash of dramatic license here.
And I think it rings more true this way: as much as we trot that silly old adage out, words can hurt.
Thankfully, words have an equal power to heal.
I’m not just talking about the words we use with those around us.
I’m talking about what we say to ourselves. Our self-talk!
Often, when we’re in our darkest moments—when we most desperately need a cheerleader—our own inner voice is contributing to the problem!
“What a dummy I am! Maybe if I had a more common sense, I wouldn’t keep getting myself into these messes!”
I think, to some extent, we’re all guilty of this. But I want you to stop—today—and read my Top 10 Things to Say to Yourself for some alternatives.
After all, it is the month of LOVE!
It’s time to give yourself some love and kindness.
Instead of saying mean and negative things to yourself, try using some of the alternatives in the article below!
Give it a whirl for a day or two, (or a whole month!) and I bet you’ll start to notice a difference in how you feel overall!
Much love,
Jackie
