When Later Keeps Getting in the Way

Summary

Many women put off addressing their stress, health, and weight while waiting for life to slow down. In this article, Jackie shares a personal story about procrastination and explores how chronic stress can make healthy choices more difficult. Learn why the perfect time may never arrive—and how taking one small step today can lead to meaningful, lasting change.

Life may not slow down, but you can still begin.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been meaning to sit down and write to you.

I thought about it several times.

I knew what I wanted to say.

I knew staying connected with this community matters to me.

And yet, I kept putting it off.

I was away for a short time visiting family, and when I got back, the weeds outside were growing too tall to ignore and desperately needed my attention.

Other priorities were competing for my attention, too. Life got busy on so many levels, and before I knew it, days had turned into weeks.

It struck me how often we do this with the things that matter most.

We put off making the appointment.

We delay starting the exercise program.

We tell ourselves we’ll deal with what’s stressing us out when things calm down.

We promise to take better care of ourselves and eat healthier after the weekend, after the family vacation, once school is out, or after life settles down a bit.

Yet there will always be something wanting or demanding our attention. Something else that seems more urgent. Something else that convinces us to put ourselves last…if we let it.

When it comes to stress and weight, postponing action rarely makes things easier.

Stress continues to affect our sleep, energy, food choices, cravings, motivation, and overall well-being. The longer we wait, the more frustrating and overwhelming it can feel.

Sometimes the most powerful step isn’t a giant leap.

It’s simply deciding that now is the time to begin.

Many women think that if they could just find more willpower, they’d finally get their eating habits, weight, and health under control.

But what if willpower isn’t the real issue?

When we’re stressed, overwhelmed, and running on empty, our brains and bodies naturally seek relief. That relief may show up as emotional eating, cravings for sugary or comfort foods, mindless snacking, skipping exercise, poor sleep, or simply feeling too exhausted to make healthy choices.

The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge.

Most women already know what they “should” be doing.

The challenge is that chronic stress can make it much harder to consistently do those things.

That’s why addressing stress isn’t separate from improving your health and weight. It’s often the missing piece.

When your nervous system feels calmer and more balanced, healthy choices become easier. You may find yourself sleeping better, feeling more energized, experiencing fewer cravings, and responding to challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

Small changes begin to build upon each other.

And those changes can create meaningful results over time.

If you’ve been waiting for life to settle down before taking better care of yourself, consider this your reminder that the perfect time may never arrive.

There will always be another project.

Another commitment.

Another family obligation.

Another reason to wait.

The good news is that you don’t have to overhaul your entire life to begin feeling better.

You don’t have to lose all the weight first.

You don’t have to get everything right.

You simply need to take the first step.

And often, that first step is easier when you have support, encouragement, and practical tools that work with your mind and body—not against them.

This is exactly why I created my Stress-Weight Reset Program.

In this personalized one-on-one program, we’ll work together to calm the stress response, reduce the mental and emotional overwhelm that often drives unhealthy habits, and create a healthier relationship with food, your body, and yourself.

Through hypnosis, mindset coaching, and practical stress-relief tools, you’ll learn how to:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety that contribute to emotional eating and cravings
  • Quiet the inner critic and develop more supportive self-talk
  • Feel more in control of your choices around food
  • Improve sleep, energy, and emotional resilience
  • Create habits that feel sustainable rather than restrictive

Most importantly, you’ll begin building a foundation that supports both your well-being and your long-term health goals.

If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll start later, consider this your invitation to start now.

I currently have 4 openings available for women who are ready to stop waiting, reduce their stress, and create a healthier relationship with food and themselves.
