Want to Feel Less Anxious? Try This…
Releasing What No Longer Serves You

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”
— Albert Einstein

A Gentle Way Back to Calm

In my last blogpost, I shared how there’s been a feeling of “a lot” lately…
and how that can quietly impact our nervous system, even when we’re doing our best to stay grounded.

And while that’s real…
so is this:

There are ways to come back to yourself that don’t require efforting, figuring everything out, or fixing anything.

Sometimes, it’s much simpler than that.

Nature Has a Way of Bringing Us Back

This time of year especially…
with spring unfolding all around us…

there’s an invitation.

An invitation to step outside.
To notice what’s blooming.
To feel the air, the light, the movement of life returning again.

And what’s so beautiful is this:

You don’t have to “do it right.”
You don’t need a plan.
You don’t need a lot of time.

Just being in nature begins to shift things.

What We Know (and What You May Already Feel)

There’s actually quite a bit of research showing that spending time in nature can:

  • reduce stress levels
  • calm the nervous system
  • improve mood and mental clarity
  • support overall well-being

But beyond the studies…

Have you ever noticed how even a short walk outside can help you breathe a little deeper?
Or how sitting in a quiet natural space can soften something inside you?

That’s your nervous system responding.

Not because you forced it…
but because you allowed yourself to step into an environment that supports calm.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Big

When we think of “getting into nature,” we might picture long hikes or big outings.

And those are wonderful—I love hiking.

But it can also be much simpler.

Here’s what I find works for me:

Sometimes, I’ll just step out onto my deck and look out at the hillside… noticing what’s blooming, what’s changing.

It’s easy. It’s simple.
And yet, it gives me a clearer perspective.

It feels like a “coming home to me” moment—
one that naturally connects me back to a sense of inner calm.

Oftentimes, I’ll go for a walk, even just around the neighborhood…
and admire people’s trees, shrubs, and flowers in their gardens…
and I can feel a shift happen.

Something softens.
My state changes.

And I’m reminded how powerful these simple moments can be.

I truly feel grateful that I can step outside and take advantage of nature’s “medicine.”

And I highly recommend it.

Here are some simple ways to experience Nature’s “medicine”:

  • A walk around your neighborhood
    • Sitting in a park for a few minutes
    • Visiting a local garden
    • Spending time tending to your own plants or garden
    • Even pausing to notice the trees, the sky, the blossoms around you

These small moments count.
They matter more than we often realize.

A Different Kind of Reset

In a world that often encourages us to do more, think more, and figure things out…

Nature offers something different.

It doesn’t ask anything of you.
It doesn’t require you to solve anything.

It simply allows you to be.

And in that space…
your mind can quiet
your body can soften
and your system can begin to reset.

A Gentle Invitation

As we move further into spring, I invite you to experiment with this:

Step outside—intentionally.

Not to exercise, not to check something off your list…
but simply to be there.

Even for a few minutes.

Notice what you notice.
Feel what you feel.
Let yourself slow down, just a little.

And see what shifts.

Support Along the Way

If you’d like some guidance as you do this, my relaxation audios pair beautifully with time in nature—and can help you access that same sense of calm wherever you are.

Your powerful imagination will take you right into Nature…and you’ll feel like you truly are there and will receive those awesome benefits Nature offers.

And my Stress Relief Toolbox and Happiness Blueprint also offer simple ways to support your mind and nervous system as you create more calm in your daily life.

In Closing

Sometimes, coming back to yourself doesn’t require doing more.

Sometimes, it’s about stepping into what already knows how to support you.

Nature is one of those places.

Warmly,
Jackie
