When the World Feels Like A Lot…

“Your nervous system is not broken—it’s responding.”

Lately, I’ve been noticing something…
I imagine you have too.

There’s just… a lot.

A lot happening in the world.
A lot coming at us through the news, social media, conversations.

There’s even those darn taxes to deal with, if you’re in the U.S. and April 15th is lurking on the horizon!

And it’s a lot to process—whether we realize it or not.

And I’ll be honest with you—
even after all these years of personal growth, and being very conscious of how I care for my mindset…
I still find myself feeling unsettled at times.

I do my best to limit how much news I take in, as I know it can trigger me on many levels.
And at the same time, I want to stay informed.

It’s a matter of balancing what I take in… and what I don’t allow to take hold or trigger me.

And that’s not always easy.

Because even with that awareness, I still find I’m impacted.
I do feel concerned about what’s happening in the world.

And what I’ve come to recognize—again and again—is this:
I can’t control the external sources most of the time.

What I can control is how I reconnect with myself and find that inner calm again.

So, I’ve been doing more journaling, giving myself more quiet time, taking walks and hikes in nature, being present to the blossoming of springtime, and connecting more with loved ones. It’s what supports my nervous system.

And honestly—it keeps me sane.
And feeling better.

Please Know—It’s Not Just You

Many people are feeling this way right now.

So, if you’ve been feeling a little more anxious…
A little more overwhelmed…
Or just not quite like yourself lately…

Your nervous system is simply responding to what it’s been taking in.
And that’s an important distinction.

And if your thoughts sound like this:
“There’s nothing I can do.”
“I’m powerless.”
“Everything is falling apart.”

There’s nothing wrong with you.

These are natural thoughts of a nervous system that is experiencing overwhelm.

Your nervous system is sending your mind and body into anxiety mode…
and you end up feeling like not only is the world a mess right now—but so are you.

If you’ve been down this tunnel, it’s time to guide yourself into a better feeling state, don’t you think?

And I’ll be continuing to do the same—right there with you.

Simple Ways to Begin

  • Step away from the noise—the news (taking breaks)
  • Take a few slow, intentional breaths to interrupt stress and anxiety patterns
  • Get outside in nature and letting your system reset
  • Or simply notice, “Ah… I’m taking in a lot right now”
  • And be kind and compassionate with yourself

Small shifts…
but powerful ones that can make a big difference.

Support When You Need It

Listening to any of my audios can help your nervous system re-regulate.

And, if I have to say so myself—my Stress Relief Toolbox book is full of guidance and tools you can return to anytime. Whether you need a quick reset or you’re ready to build long-term practices, it’s a wonderful resource to have on hand.

And lastly, The Happiness Blueprint eBook course offers perspectives and practices to support you in reconnecting with your inner happiness—one that isn’t dependent on anything outside of you.

When you give yourself permission to create more inner calm, to reconnect within, and to come back to yourself…
you’re doing deeply important work—not just for yourself, but for the world around you.

Wishing you a more calm from within, no matter what is happening “out there!”

Warmly,

Jackie
