A Simple Way to Stay Sane This Holiday Season

“Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.” — Henri Nouwen

As we step into a month filled with celebrations: Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, and so many beautiful traditions, I want to share a simple reminder to help you stay grounded amidst the gatherings, food, and festivities.

There was a time when I placed such high expectations on myself during the holidays. I tried to recreate the feelings of childhood magic, all while juggling the realities of adult life… and it often left me stressed, rushed, and feeling like I was falling short.

One of the biggest shifts for me came when I started letting go, letting go of the need for perfection, letting go of the pressure to do it all, and letting go of guilt around enjoying the foods and traditions I love.

So here’s a gentle intention to carry with you this week:

“I enjoy this season with awareness, ease, and no guilt.”

And one simple tool:

The Mindful Pause

Before your first bite or sip at any gathering, pause for 3–5 seconds.

Notice the aroma, the colors, the warmth of the moment.

This small reset helps you savor more fully and feel more in control—without restriction.

Wishing you a peaceful, mindful start to the season, however you celebrate.

Warm holiday wishes to you!
