My Stress Reliever: Traveling!
April is already almost over, and it still amazes me how time does have a way of going by quickly!
My husband and I just returned from a 3 week European adventure. It was fabulous.
Not only did we get to visit some friends in Germany, we got to experience an organization called Road Scholar that does educational and active educational tours.
Ours was in Tuscany and Umbria part of Italy. This group was a new experience for us and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and learning about the regions in ways we never would have on our own.
We were fed well-maybe too well-lol-and we experienced the love of life the Italians in this area have.
Being away and enjoying other cultures, meeting new people and seeing new areas of Europe was a great break away from the doom and gloom we were bombarded with prior to leaving on our adventures.
Now back on the home front, anytime I find myself going into stress and anxiety about the state of affairs of my country, I remind myself of the good times we had, the great food we experienced and the wonderful and sometimes challenging walks/hikes we had in Italy’s countrysides.
Which leads me to remind you (and me) how important it is for us to have a plan, a strategy, a toolbox, or whatever you want to call it, to not let stress and anxiety control us.
Being stressed and anxious does not help any situation. It deprives us of our ability to respond appropriately and find solutions.
When we’re consistently stressed and anxious, it causes our bodies to be in a constant state of fight, flight and/or freeze state. It means all those stress hormones are causing havoc on our nervous system, our circulatory system as well as our mental and emotional states.
This is not a healthy or empowering state to be in!
So, it’s time to put an end to consistent stressing and being anxious-wouldn’t you say?
Check out my very timely article on how to break up with stress (and anxiety) and take back your life!
Would love to hear your thoughts about this breaking up…and as I’m back from my travels, I’ve got some availability for some one one-on-one conversations to support you with this break up!
Warmly,
Jackie
